About us
Made in the casting room, not a tech lab.
We’re Catherine and Rich. Catherine is an RTS Award-winning Casting Director with more than 100 productions, including Detectorists, Alma's Not Normal and Changing Ends. Rich was on the original design team for BBC iPlayer and has built digital products used by millions.
We built Open Casting after one too many weekends downloading upside-down tapes, colour-coding spreadsheets and chasing parents for under-18 permissions. It is the tool we wished we had in our own office.
Do applicants need an account?
No. They open your link and apply from their phone's browser. Nothing to download.
Who can see the applicants?
You, your colleagues you add, and the producers and directors you send your ‘Yes’ list to.
What happens to their details afterwards?
We delete them 30 days by default after the production finish date set when the casting call is set up. Every call shows its date.
What about under-18s?
A parent or guardian confirms the application first, before anything is submitted. Until then, the casting team sees nothing.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once per casting call, when you publish, with no ongoing fees. You can add as many roles as you need to a single call, too.
